1) Core/Blockstream wants Segwit at all costs, and will not accept any HF Blocksize increase 2) Dispatch LukeJR, to act "on their own" to prop up UASF. Get twitter likes/new reddit accounts to spam UASF, etc (BAD COP) 3) Create SegWit2x plan, which "activates SegWit with 80%, then 6 months later 2MB HF" (GOOD COP) having 6 month delay on HF is key here. Plan devised by core support Barry/Alan Silbert. 4) Core pretends to not like SegWti2x, claims "uninvited" to agreement, makes as much of a show as possible that they do not like the plan and think its bad. Also, do not endorse LukeJR UASF, say this is not good idea and too reckless 5) LukeJastroturfers acts crazy and tries to "rile up" #UASF support, claim Aug 1 is set in stone. Make big noise about it, despite having less than 0.1% hash rate support. Aug 1 is the date!! 6) Core and supported miners "warms up" to SegWit2x plan, says they do not want to block scaling and have Bitcoin become irrelevant, say they will support SegWit2x agreement because UASF could be too risky, and want to compromise 7) Rush SegWit2x activation in July, to prevent "loose cannon LukeJR UASF plan which is reckless," miners agree thinking its good compromise. 8) SegWit activates with SegWit2x, Core miners BTCC/BitFury immediately return to Core software; Plan is successful, SegWit is activated without HF, no need for SegWit2x anymore. 9) Jihan and miners 6 months later, asking why many miners dropped SegWit2x support after SegWit activate, and do not run 2MB HF code? Upset about it, but too risky to HF with 50% support after SegWit already active. 10) Core gets SegWit with no blocksize increase (original plan), and got idiots on /btc to cheer it on while it happened. EDIT: SegWit2x cannot be a compromise unless SegWit and HF are locked together at the same time in 1 upgrade. This is the only fair compromise, what would Core supporters think if we demanded 2MB HF increase now, then "probably in 6 months we will vote for SegWit?"
J.P. Morgan Chase Becomes First U.S. Bank With a Cryptocurrency
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 31%. (I'm a bot)
J.P. Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon called bitcoin a fraud in September 2017 and said, "You can't have a business where people can invent a currency out of thin air and think that people who are buying it are really smart," By January 2018 he had walked the remarks back but said he still was "Not interested that much in the subject at all." In February 2018, J.P. Morgan called cryptocurrencies "Risk factors" to its business, something it never previously said. Now J.P. Morgan has become the first bank to offer its own cryptocurrency, CNBC reported. The cryptocurrency, called "JPM Coin," is intended for the bank's wholesale payments business that moves $6 trillion around the world daily. As long-time former banker and now cryptocurrency industry figure Alan Silbert said of Dimon in a January 2018 tweet, "Backpedaling is the first step in the program towards walking the path." Global banking is moving toward blockchain, the database technology that drives cryptocurrencies and leaves a clear audit trail that supports a high level of regulatory compliance. A cryptocurrency can work at the same speed for real-time transactions instead of a wire transfer's lag, giving the processor a competitive advantage.
