[Winner's Thread #50] Maybe 2020 will be alright!

Hello everyone!
To be honest, I don’t even know what to say really. I am still so shook up over winning! Just Saturday night I was looking through my finances and stressing about money, and then I woke up Sunday to this? All I can say is thank you, to the creators of this sub, the moderators, and every member here too.
A little bit about me: I am a full time student in college and I work full time as well, which means I really don’t have much free time. I work for an automotive manufacturer, but it is not where I want to be forever (or much longer tbh). Currently, I am attending school to get a degree in Emergency Management, and I would love to work in the disaster relief field helping those who have been through major disasters and catastrophes.
Because all of this is so unexpected, and I really want to make good use of the proceeds here, I am going to do things a little differently. I will donate 50% of everything you guys send in the next week directly to the Australian Red Cross to help provide relief for the refugees and victims of the 2019-2020 fires. I will provide proof of all donations in one week.
All listed payment methods below will go directly to me, and then I will divide the winnings in half and donate it on behalf of the MillionaireMakers community.
Thank you all again for being such a wonderful part of this community. I cannot wait to donate to the next winners, and I wish you all good luck in the next drawing!
-u/surprisesalmon

*** Everything listed should result in direct lines of payment to surprisesalmon. We ask all users to donate at least $1 USD. The Drawing is also listed for users who want to see the results and confirm the validity of the winner.

The Next Crypto Wave: The Rise of Stablecoins and its Entry to the U.S. Dollar Market

The Next Crypto Wave: The Rise of Stablecoins and its Entry to the U.S. Dollar Market

Author: Christian Hsieh, CEO of Tokenomy
This paper examines some explanations for the continual global market demand for the U.S. dollar, the rise of stablecoins, and the utility and opportunities that crypto dollars can offer to both the cryptocurrency and traditional markets.
The U.S. dollar, dominant in world trade since the establishment of the 1944 Bretton Woods System, is unequivocally the world’s most demanded reserve currency. Today, more than 61% of foreign bank reserves and nearly 40% of the entire world’s debt is denominated in U.S. dollars1.
However, there is a massive supply and demand imbalance in the U.S. dollar market. On the supply side, central banks throughout the world have implemented more than a decade-long accommodative monetary policy since the 2008 global financial crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic further exacerbated the need for central banks to provide necessary liquidity and keep staggering economies moving. While the Federal Reserve leads the effort of “money printing” and stimulus programs, the current money supply still cannot meet the constant high demand for the U.S. dollar2. Let us review some of the reasons for this constant dollar demand from a few economic fundamentals.

Demand for U.S. Dollars

Firstly, most of the world’s trade is denominated in U.S. dollars. Chief Economist of the IMF, Gita Gopinath, has compiled data reflecting that the U.S. dollar’s share of invoicing was 4.7 times larger than America’s share of the value of imports, and 3.1 times its share of world exports3. The U.S. dollar is the dominant “invoicing currency” in most developing countries4.

https://preview.redd.it/wucg40kzz8p51.png?width=653&format=png&auto=webp&s=71257fec29b43e0fc0df1bf04363717e3b52478f
This U.S. dollar preference also directly impacts the world’s debt. According to the Bank of International Settlements, there is over $67 trillion in U.S. dollar denominated debt globally, and borrowing outside of the U.S. accounted for $12.5 trillion in Q1 20205. There is an immense demand for U.S. dollars every year just to service these dollar debts. The annual U.S. dollar buying demand is easily over $1 trillion assuming the borrowing cost is at 1.5% (1 year LIBOR + 1%) per year, a conservative estimate.

https://preview.redd.it/6956j6f109p51.png?width=487&format=png&auto=webp&s=ccea257a4e9524c11df25737cac961308b542b69
Secondly, since the U.S. has a much stronger economy compared to its global peers, a higher return on investments draws U.S. dollar demand from everywhere in the world, to invest in companies both in the public and private markets. The U.S. hosts the largest stock markets in the world with more than $33 trillion in public market capitalization (combined both NYSE and NASDAQ)6. For the private market, North America’s total share is well over 60% of the $6.5 trillion global assets under management across private equity, real assets, and private debt investments7. The demand for higher quality investments extends to the fixed income market as well. As countries like Japan and Switzerland currently have negative-yielding interest rates8, fixed income investors’ quest for yield in the developed economies leads them back to the U.S. debt market. As of July 2020, there are $15 trillion worth of negative-yielding debt securities globally (see chart). In comparison, the positive, low-yielding U.S. debt remains a sound fixed income strategy for conservative investors in uncertain market conditions.

Last, but not least, there are many developing economies experiencing failing monetary policies, where hyperinflation has become a real national disaster. A classic example is Venezuela, where the currency Bolivar became practically worthless as the inflation rate skyrocketed to 10,000,000% in 20199. The recent Beirut port explosion in Lebanon caused a sudden economic meltdown and compounded its already troubled financial market, where inflation has soared to over 112% year on year10. For citizens living in unstable regions such as these, the only reliable store of value is the U.S. dollar. According to the Chainalysis 2020 Geography of Cryptocurrency Report, Venezuela has become one of the most active cryptocurrency trading countries11. The demand for cryptocurrency surges as a flight to safety mentality drives Venezuelans to acquire U.S. dollars to preserve savings that they might otherwise lose. The growth for cryptocurrency activities in those regions is fueled by these desperate citizens using cryptocurrencies as rails to access the U.S. dollar, on top of acquiring actual Bitcoin or other underlying crypto assets.

The Rise of Crypto Dollars

Due to the highly volatile nature of cryptocurrencies, USD stablecoin, a crypto-powered blockchain token that pegs its value to the U.S. dollar, was introduced to provide stable dollar exposure in the crypto trading sphere. Tether is the first of its kind. Issued in 2014 on the bitcoin blockchain (Omni layer protocol), under the token symbol USDT, it attempts to provide crypto traders with a stable settlement currency while they trade in and out of various crypto assets. The reason behind the stablecoin creation was to address the inefficient and burdensome aspects of having to move fiat U.S. dollars between the legacy banking system and crypto exchanges. Because one USDT is theoretically backed by one U.S. dollar, traders can use USDT to trade and settle to fiat dollars. It was not until 2017 that the majority of traders seemed to realize Tether’s intended utility and started using it widely. As of April 2019, USDT trading volume started exceeding the trading volume of bitcoina12, and it now dominates the crypto trading sphere with over $50 billion average daily trading volume13.

https://preview.redd.it/3vq7v1jg09p51.png?width=700&format=png&auto=webp&s=46f11b5f5245a8c335ccc60432873e9bad2eb1e1
An interesting aspect of USDT is that although the claimed 1:1 backing with U.S. dollar collateral is in question, and the Tether company is in reality running fractional reserves through a loose offshore corporate structure, Tether’s trading volume and adoption continues to grow rapidly14. Perhaps in comparison to fiat U.S. dollars, which is not really backed by anything, Tether still has cash equivalents in reserves and crypto traders favor its liquidity and convenience over its lack of legitimacy. For those who are concerned about Tether’s solvency, they can now purchase credit default swaps for downside protection15. On the other hand, USDC, the more compliant contender, takes a distant second spot with total coin circulation of $1.8 billion, versus USDT at $14.5 billion (at the time of publication). It is still too early to tell who is the ultimate leader in the stablecoin arena, as more and more stablecoins are launching to offer various functions and supporting mechanisms. There are three main categories of stablecoin: fiat-backed, crypto-collateralized, and non-collateralized algorithm based stablecoins. Most of these are still at an experimental phase, and readers can learn more about them here. With the continuous innovation of stablecoin development, the utility stablecoins provide in the overall crypto market will become more apparent.

Institutional Developments

In addition to trade settlement, stablecoins can be applied in many other areas. Cross-border payments and remittances is an inefficient market that desperately needs innovation. In 2020, the average cost of sending money across the world is around 7%16, and it takes days to settle. The World Bank aims to reduce remittance fees to 3% by 2030. With the implementation of blockchain technology, this cost could be further reduced close to zero.
J.P. Morgan, the largest bank in the U.S., has created an Interbank Information Network (IIN) with 416 global Institutions to transform the speed of payment flows through its own JPM Coin, another type of crypto dollar17. Although people argue that JPM Coin is not considered a cryptocurrency as it cannot trade openly on a public blockchain, it is by far the largest scale experiment with all the institutional participants trading within the “permissioned” blockchain. It might be more accurate to refer to it as the use of distributed ledger technology (DLT) instead of “blockchain” in this context. Nevertheless, we should keep in mind that as J.P. Morgan currently moves $6 trillion U.S. dollars per day18, the scale of this experiment would create a considerable impact in the international payment and remittance market if it were successful. Potentially the day will come when regulated crypto exchanges become participants of IIN, and the link between public and private crypto assets can be instantly connected, unlocking greater possibilities in blockchain applications.
Many central banks are also in talks about developing their own central bank digital currency (CBDC). Although this idea was not new, the discussion was brought to the forefront due to Facebook’s aggressive Libra project announcement in June 2019 and the public attention that followed. As of July 2020, at least 36 central banks have published some sort of CBDC framework. While each nation has a slightly different motivation behind its currency digitization initiative, ranging from payment safety, transaction efficiency, easy monetary implementation, or financial inclusion, these central banks are committed to deploying a new digital payment infrastructure. When it comes to the technical architectures, research from BIS indicates that most of the current proofs-of-concept tend to be based upon distributed ledger technology (permissioned blockchain)19.

https://preview.redd.it/lgb1f2rw19p51.png?width=700&format=png&auto=webp&s=040bb0deed0499df6bf08a072fd7c4a442a826a0
These institutional experiments are laying an essential foundation for an improved global payment infrastructure, where instant and frictionless cross-border settlements can take place with minimal costs. Of course, the interoperability of private DLT tokens and public blockchain stablecoins has yet to be explored, but the innovation with both public and private blockchain efforts could eventually merge. This was highlighted recently by the Governor of the Bank of England who stated that “stablecoins and CBDC could sit alongside each other20”. One thing for certain is that crypto dollars (or other fiat-linked digital currencies) are going to play a significant role in our future economy.

Future Opportunities

There is never a dull moment in the crypto sector. The industry narratives constantly shift as innovation continues to evolve. Twelve years since its inception, Bitcoin has evolved from an abstract subject to a familiar concept. Its role as a secured, scarce, decentralized digital store of value has continued to gain acceptance, and it is well on its way to becoming an investable asset class as a portfolio hedge against asset price inflation and fiat currency depreciation. Stablecoins have proven to be useful as proxy dollars in the crypto world, similar to how dollars are essential in the traditional world. It is only a matter of time before stablecoins or private digital tokens dominate the cross-border payments and global remittances industry.
There are no shortages of hypes and experiments that draw new participants into the crypto space, such as smart contracts, new blockchains, ICOs, tokenization of things, or the most recent trends on DeFi tokens. These projects highlight the possibilities for a much more robust digital future, but the market also needs time to test and adopt. A reliable digital payment infrastructure must be built first in order to allow these experiments to flourish.
In this paper we examined the historical background and economic reasons for the U.S. dollar’s dominance in the world, and the probable conclusion is that the demand for U.S. dollars will likely continue, especially in the middle of a global pandemic, accompanied by a worldwide economic slowdown. The current monetary system is far from perfect, but there are no better alternatives for replacement at least in the near term. Incremental improvements are being made in both the public and private sectors, and stablecoins have a definite role to play in both the traditional and the new crypto world.
Thank you.

Bitcoin 11 Years - Achievements, Lies, and Bullshit Claims So Far - Tooootally NOT a SCAM !!!!

That's right folks, it's that time again for the annual review of how Bitcoin is going: all of those claims, predictions, promises .... how many have turned out to be true, and how many are completely bogus ???
Please post / link this on Bitcoin (I am banned there for speaking the truth, so I cannot do it) ... because it'a way past time those poor clueless mushrooms were exposed to the truth.
Anyway, without further ado, I give you the Bitcoin's Achievements, Lies, and Bullshit Claims So Far ...
.
Bitcoin Achievements so far:
  1. It has spawned a cesspool of scams (2000+ shit coin scams, plus 100's of other scams, frauds, cons).
  2. Many 1,000's of hacks, thefts, losses.
  3. Illegal Use Cases: illegal drugs, illegal weapons, tax fraud, money laundering, sex trafficking, child pornography, hit men / murder-for-hire, ransomware, blackmail, extortion, and various other kinds of fraud and illicit activity.
  4. Legal Use Cases: Steam Games, Reddit, Expedia, Stripe, Starbucks, 1000's of merchants, cryptocurrency conferences, Ummm ????? The few merchants who "accept Bitcoin" immediately convert it into FIAT after the sale, or require you to sell your coins to BitPay or Coinbase for real money, and will then take that money. Some of the few who actually accept bitcoin haven't seen a customer who needed to pay with bitcoin for the last six months, and their cashiers no longer know how to handle that.
  5. Contributing significantly to Global Warming.
  6. Wastes vasts amounts of electricity on useless, do nothing work.
  7. Exponentially raises electricity prices when big miners move into regions where electricity was cheap.
  8. It’s the first "currency" that is not self-sustainable. It operates at a net loss, and requires continuous outside capital to replace the capital removed by miners to pay their costs. It’s literally a "black hole currency."
  9. It created a new way for people living too far from Vegas to gamble all their life savings away.
  10. Spawned "blockchain technology", a powerful technique that lets incompetent programmers who know almost nothing about databases, finance, programming, or blockchain scam millions out of gullible VC investors, banks, and governments.
  11. Increased China's foreign trade balance by a couple billion dollars per year.
  12. Helped the FBI and other law enforcement agents easily track down hundreds of drug traffickers and drug users.
  13. Wasted thousands if not millions of man-hours of government employees and legislators, in mostly fruitless attempts to understand, legitimize, and regulate the "phenomenon", and to investigate and prosecute its scams.
  14. Rekindled the hopes of anarcho-capitalists and libertarians for a global economic collapse, that would finally bring forth their Mad Max "utopia".
  15. Added another character to Unicode (no, no, not the "poo" 💩 character ... that was my first guess as well 🤣)
  16. Provides an easy way for malware and ransomware criminals to ply their trade and extort hospitals, schools, local councils, businesses, utilities, as well as the general population.
.
Correct Predictions:

Yes, Bitcoin reached $1,000 in 2013 and 2014, but that's NOT what the prediction says).

End of day summary - 03/06

The Dow fell 256.50, or 0.98%, to 25,864.78 , the Nasdaq lost 162.98, or 1.87%, to 8,575.62 , and the S&P 500 declined 51.57, or 1.71%, to 2,972.37.

The stock market ended a volatile week on a lower note with the S&P 500 (-1.7%) settling just above its low from Monday. The benchmark index gained 0.6% for the week while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (-1.0%) outperformed, gaining 1.8% since last Friday.
In the U.S., nonfarm payrolls surged 273,000 in February and the unemployment rate fell back to 3.5%, which matches a five-decade low. Average hourly earnings grew 3.0% year-over-year. While a very strong report, it appears to be discounted because of the coronavirus, though it provides evidence that the U.S. economy was on solid footing before it hit. The trade deficit narrowed 6.7% to $45.3B in January as exports dipped 0.4% to $208.6B and imports dropped 1.6% to $253.9B. Wholesale inventories fell 0.4% in January, but sales jumped 1.6%.
In energy news, Reuters reported that OPEC's plans for prolonged oil cuts have been derailed as Russia refused to support the move contending it is too early to predict the effect of coronavirus on global energy demand. WTI crude for April delivery fell $4.62, or 10.1%, to end at $41.28 a barrel following the news of the OPEC blow-up. Also, Baker Hughes reported that the U.S. rig count is up 3 rigs from last week to 793.
The final session of the week was marred by a continued deterioration of sentiment due to the ongoing spread of the coronavirus while the pressure on growth expectations intensified. Treasuries essentially never stopped after Thursday's cash close, continuing their forceful charge in the overnight futures market. Treasuries did pull back from their highs in midday trade, but the long bond rallied to a fresh record high in the afternoon while the 10-yr note stopped a bit short of its best level of the day. The 10-yr yield fell 22 basis points to 0.71%, representing a 42-basis point drop for the week.
Expectations for another sharp rate cut remain in place with the fed funds futures market pointing to a 56.0% implied likelihood of a 75-basis point rate cut at or before the conclusion of the FOMC meeting on March 18.
The S&P 500 staged a 70-point rally during the final hour of trade, which led to a significant improvement in final sector standings, though all eleven sectors finished in the red.
Four groups surrendered 2.0% or more. Energy (-5.6%) and financials (-3.3%) were particularly weak throughout the day due to their exposure to growth and concerns about issuers of high-yield debt in the energy sector.
Bank stocks suffered from the drop in Treasury yields while energy companies struggled as oil fell $4.57, or 10.0%, to $41.32/bbl. The energy component ended the day at its lowest level since mid-2016 after OPEC+ could not agree to a sharp production cut despite yesterday's reports to the contrary. Russia's Energy Minister, Alexander Novak, said that OPEC+ countries are free to pump at will starting from April 1.
Shares of JPM were sharply lower amid the pullback in the market, though the bank's declines may also be made worse by news that CEO Jamie Dimon experienced an acute aortic dissection and underwent successful emergency heart surgery to repair the health issue. Co-Presidents and Chief Operating Officers Daniel Pinto and Gordon Smith will lead the company as Dimon recovers, the bank confirmed.
Shares of AAPL were lower after a fourth supplier cut guidance amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. ON cut its first quarter revenue outlook this morning, becoming the fourth Apple supplier to cut guidance this week after QRVO, SWKS and MCHP did so as well.
In company-specific news, COST reported better than expected Q2 results, but the stock still finished lower. AMD fared better than the broader market after reaffirming its guidance for FY20. The chipmaker did caution that Q1 results are likely to be on the low end of its guidance.
Among the noteworthy gainers were MRNA and OPK, which have each recently reported on efforts linked to combating the coronavirus. Airline stocks like ALK +4.0%, JBLU +0.1%), UAL, +1.0%, and DAL, +2.0% recorded gains on Friday after recovering from fresh multi-year lows. Alaska Air did warn that its guidance for FY20 should no longer be relied upon due to coronavirus-related uncertainty.
Among the notable losers was AOBC, which fell 30% after the gunmaker reported fiscal Q3 results below consensus and guidance. SBUX shares slid 1% after the company provided an update on the impact related to COVID-19 in China. Stifel analyst Chris O'Cull said the earnings impact to Starbucks' fiscal Q2 is likely larger than he projected, be he also pointed out that Starbucks noted there has been no perceptible impact from COVID-19 on the U.S. business.
Shares of cruise operators started the day in positive territory but retreated as the day went on. NCLH, -5.2% was the weakest performer of the bunch, stopping just above its record low (24.16) that was notched when the company went public in early 2013.
European stocks also fell sharply Friday as the coronavirus outbreak continues to impact businesses worldwide.

Currency

The U.S. Dollar Index dropped 0.9% to 95.98 and was down 2.2% for the week as rate-cut expectations boiled over. According to the CME FedWatch Tool, there is a 100% probability of another 50 basis points cut at the March 17-18 FOMC meeting and a 63% probability of a 75 basis points cut.

Treasury

U.S. Treasuries had another huge day as the stock market racked up another day of huge losses amid ongoing concerns about the spread of the coronavirus and budding credit worries. The 10-yr yield, which settled Thursday at 0.93%, went as low as 0.66% in today's curve-flattening trade before losing some steam.

Commodity

Oil prices plunged more than 8% to multi-year lows on Friday as OPEC’s allies rejected additional production cuts that the organization proposed Thursday. The meeting between OPEC and its allies, known as OPEC+, concluded with no deal on additional production cuts.
Agriculture:

Crypto

As global equity markets continue to get pummeled, bitcoin’s return to the $9,000 level may have been driven by some of the same forces causing a rally in bonds – a desire for respite from a coronavirus-plagued markets.

Bonds, Virus and Valuation

The move in Treasuries has been precipitated by flight-safety flows that have been fueled by economic growth concerns stemming from the spread of the coronavirus. It has also been stoked by momentum, interest rate differentials, and policy stimulus expectations, the latter of which have also been nothing short of stunning.
The CME FedWatch Tool is showing a 100% probability of another 50 basis points cut at the March 17-18 FOMC meeting and a 64% probability of a 75 basis points cut.
Those expectations capture the view that the coronavirus isn't "just another flu." It might have similar characteristics, but when was the last time entire cities were quarantined, professional sporting events were canceled, travel restrictions were imposed, orchestrated efforts to force employees to work from home, states of emergency were declared, U.S. schools were closed, and the Federal Reserve ushered in an emergency 50 basis points rate cut because of the flu?
Coronavirus is quite different from the flu because the reaction to it has been universally different -- and that reaction is what gets lost in the debate as to whether the coronavirus is "just another flu." Rightly or wrongly, the coronavirus is creating an economic disruption in a manner no normal flu has in our modern age and that is the important distinction for the capital markets and policymakers.
It's another reason why the strong employment report for February has been glossed over for the most part by the market. At any other time, the Treasury market would be selling off on today's report, and, arguably, the futures market would be moving sharply higher -- but this isn't any other time.
The key takeaway from the report isn't what was in the report, it was the lackluster response to it, which is a function of expecting employment reports in coming months not to look as good because of the coronavirus impact.
The market multiple has contracted to 16.7x, which is now in-line with the five-year average -- only it isn't because earnings estimates are going to fall further.

Price Analysis 5/13: BTC, ETH, XRP, BCH, BSV, LTC, EOS, XTZ, XLM

Price Analysis 5/13: BTC, ETH, XRP, BCH, BSV, LTC, EOS, XTZ, XLM
BTC/USD
Bitcoin (BTC) nosedived on May 10 and fell to a low of $8,130.58. This sharp fall triggered the stop loss on the remaining long position that was proposed to be kept at $9,000 in a previous analysis.

BTC–USD daily chart. Source: Tradingview
On May 10 and 11, the bulls aggressively defended the uptrend line. This could have led to short covering by the aggressive bears. The breakout above the 20-day EMA ($8,662) further strengthened the case for a possible retest of $10,000 levels.
The 20-day exponential moving average has started to slope up once again and the relative strength index has bounced off from close to the midpoint. This suggests that the bulls are in command and the path of least resistance is to the upside.
Above $9,200, a move to $10,000 is possible. The bears are likely to mount a stiff resistance between $10,000 and the downtrend line of the symmetrical triangle at $10,700. This zone is likely to be the real test of this up move.
The bullish view will be invalidated if the BTC/USD pair turns down and plummets below the uptrend line and the recent lows of $8,130.58. If that happens, a deeper correction to $6,471.71 is possible.
ETH/USD
The sharp fall in Ether (ETH) on May 10 broke below the support line of the channel, which triggered the suggested stop-loss on the long positions at $185. However, buying near the lows helped the biggest altcoin recover and close (UTC time) inside the channel.

ETH–USD daily chart. Source: Tradingview
On May 11, the bears again attempted to break the uptrend by dragging the 2nd-ranked cryptocurrency on CoinMarketCap below the support line of the channel. However, the bulls again bought the dip.
This could have led to short covering by the aggressive bears and follow up buying by the aggressive bulls. This has propped the ETH/USD pair above the 20-day EMA ($196). The downtrend line might offer stiff resistance but if this level is scaled, the up move can retest $227.097.
Conversely, if the pair turns down from the downtrend line, the bears are likely to make another attempt to sink the price below the channel and the recent low of $176.112. If successful, a deeper correction is likely.
XRP/USD
XRP plunged to a low of $0.17898 on May 10. This sharp decline triggered our proposed stop-loss on the long positions at $0.20. However, the positive thing is that the bulls bought the dips aggressively.

XRP–USD daily chart. Source: Tradingview
Currently, the bulls are attempting to push the 3rd-ranked cryptocurrency on CoinMarketCap above the 20-day EMA ($0.20).
If successful, an up move to the downtrend line is possible. A breakout of the downtrend line will signal strength and can result in a rally to the $0.23612-$0.24770 resistance zone.
On the other hand, if the XRP/USD pair turns down from the downtrend line, the bears will make another attempt to break the $0.17372 support. If that happens, a drop to $0.14 is possible.
BCH/USD
Bitcoin Cash (BCH) has been consolidating between $200 and $280.47 for more than a month. When the price is stuck in such a large range, traders can buy near the support and sell near the resistance.

BCH–USD daily chart. Source: Tradingview
The 5th-ranked cryptocurrency on CoinMarketCap turned down from the resistance of the range on May 9 and plunged to a low of $217.55 on May 11. Although the bulls purchased this dip, they have not been able to propel the price above the 20-day EMA ($243), which suggests a lack of momentum.
If the BCH/USD pair turns down from the current levels, a drop to $200 is possible. Conversely, if the bulls can push the price above the 20-day EMA, a move to $280.47 is likely.
XLM/USD
Stellar Lumens (XLM) has been in an uptrend for the past few weeks. With the sharp selloff on May 10 and 11, the bears attempted to change the trend but they could not sustain the price below $0.060.

XLM–USD daily chart. Source: Tradingview
This showed that the bulls were buying the dips to $0.060. On May 12, the 11th-ranked cryptocurrency on CoinMarketCap surged, which suggested that more buyers came onboard as the confidence picked up.
Currently, the up move is facing resistance at the uptrend line but the bulls have not given up much ground. This increases the possibility of a breakout of the uptrend line. If successful, the XLM/USD pair can rally to $0.076994.
The pair remains positive as long as it sustains above the $0.060 levels. A trend change will be signaled if the bears sink the pair below this support.
EOS/USD
The failure of the bulls to break above the downtrend line attracted profit booking that dragged EOS below the uptrend line and the moving averages on May 10. That triggered the suggested stop loss on the long positions at $2.50.

EOS–USD daily chart. Source: Tradingview
Currently, the bulls are struggling to push the 9th-ranked cryptocurrency on CoinMarketCap above the moving averages. This suggests a lack of demand at higher levels.
If the EOS/USD pair does not rise above the downtrend line within the next few days, the bears will make another attempt to resume the downtrend.
The 20-day EMA ($2.64) has started to turn down and the RSI has plunged into the negative territory. This suggests that the bears are in command. If the pair sustains below $2.3314, the downtrend is likely to resume.
LTC/USD
Litecoin (LTC) turned down from the downtrend line and nosedived below the moving averages and made an intraday low of $39.3920 on May 10. This triggered the recommended stop-loss on the long positions at $42.

LTC–USD daily chart. Source: Tradingview
Although the bears attempted to sink the 7th-ranked cryptocurrency on CoinMarketCap below $39 on May 10 and 11, they could not do so. This suggests that buyers stepped in closer to this level.
However, the bounce off the $39 levels has not been able to sustain above the 50-day simple moving average ($43). This suggests that demand dries up at higher levels. If the LTC/USD pair turns down from the current levels, a retest of $39 is possible. A break below this level will start a downtrend.
Conversely, if the bulls can drive the price above the downtrend line, a rally to the $50.7864-$52.2803 range is possible.
BSV/USD
Bitcoin SV (BSV) fell from close to the resistance of the range to the support of the range within two days. The bulls purchased the drop to the support of the range at $170 on May 10 and 11, which is a positive sign.

BSV–USD daily chart. Source: Tradingview
This increases the possibility of a range-bound movement in the 6th-ranked cryptocurrency on CoinMarketCap. A break above the 20-day EMA ($197) can carry the price to the top of the range at $227. Above this level, a new uptrend is likely.
Conversely, if the BSV/USD pair turns down from the current levels, the bears might make one more attempt to sink the price below $170. If successful, a downtrend will begin.
XTZ/USD
Tezos (XTZ) plunged below the critical $2.55900337 support on May 10, which triggered the stop loss on the remaining long positions at $2.55 as suggested in the previous analysis.
XTZ–USD daily chart. Source: Tradingview
Although the bears broke below the support line of the ascending channel on May 10 and 11, they could sustain the price below it. This suggests that the bulls are attempting to keep the 10th-ranked cryptocurrency on CoinMarketCap inside the channel.
If the bulls can break out and sustain the price above the 20-day EMA ($2.59), it will increase the possibility of a move back to $3.07369598. Hence, this can offer a buying opportunity.
This bullish view will be invalidated if the XTZ/USD pair turns around from the 20-day EMA and breaks below the 50-day SMA ($2.23). Such a move might signal the start of a new downtrend.

End of day summary - 11/20

The Dow fell 112.93, or 0.40%, to 27,821.09 , the Nasdaq fell 43.93, or 0.51%, to 8,526.73 , and the S&P 500 declined 11.72, or 0.38%, to 3,108.46.
The S&P 500 declined as much as 0.9% on Wednesday after Reuters reported that a Phase One trade deal may not get completed this year. Stocks cut losses throughout the afternoon, leaving the benchmark index down 0.4% for the session -- comparable to the losses in the Dow Jones Industrial Average (-0.4%), Nasdaq Composite (-0.5%), and Russell 2000 (-0.4%).
The negative-sounding headline conflicted with the optimistic tone struck by top White House officials, including Commerce Secretary Ross just last night. Also transpiring last night was the U.S. Senate passing the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, much to the contempt of China. Altogether, it seemed like a good time to take profits, especially if the Dec. 15 tariffs still go into effect.
The trade-sensitive areas of the market like the S&P 500 materials (-1.2%), industrials (-0.8%), and information technology (-0.7%) sectors led the decline. The communication services sector (-0.8%), which contains many growth-oriented stocks, also underperformed.
Unsurprisingly, though, selling pressure quickly abated amid an opportunistic mindset among investors eagerly awaiting a dip. In addition, the details of the report were not as foreboding as the headline, and knee-jerk selling, suggested. Tucked in the report was a line indicating that some "China and trade experts" were still optimistic about a deal in the coming weeks.
Leading the afternoon comeback was the energy sector (+1.0%), which found reprieve amid a 3% rebound in oil prices ($56.91, +1.70, +3.1%). The defensive-oriented utilities (+0.6%), consumer staples (+0.2%), and real estate (+0.03%) sectors also finished in positive territory.
Separately, the release of the FOMC Minutes from the October meeting didn't draw much attention, as it was consistent with the prevailing view about monetary policy since that meeting. Economic data was limited to the weekly MBA Mortgage Applications Index, which declined 2.2% following a 9.6% increase in the prior week.
Among the noteworthy gainers was TGT, which jumped 12% after the retailer reported better than expected sales and profits for the third quarter and raised its full-year forecast ahead of the critical holiday quarter. Discussing the results, chairman and CEO Brian Cornell touted that Target is "seeing industry-leading strength across multiple metrics, from the top line to the bottom line.". LOW is also rising 4% following its own "beat and raise" third quarter report, with CEO Marvin Ellison attributing the "strong" earnings per share growth to the company's "improved execution.
Also higher was was PAYC, which rose 8.46% after RBC Capital Mkts upgraded to Outperform, which states that it is "increasingly confident in [co's] ability to realize price, improve retention, and drive a long runway of continued market disruption and penetration." The stock, which had already risen by +13% month-to-date as of yesterday's close, today touched up to new all-time highs. I also gained 15% after Raymond James analyst Richard Prentiss upgraded the stock to Outperform from Market Perform.
Among the notable losers was PDD, which dumped 23.04% after missing consensus for Q3 EPS. WBK sinked to its lowest levels since last December on higher than average volume after being accused by regulators of breaching anti-money laundering laws. Co's management acknowledged co's recognition that certain issues pertinent to the proceedings, such as a previously disclosed self-reported failure to report a large number of international funds transfer instructions, "should never have occurred and should have been identified and rectified sooner"; co "is carefully reviewing the claim and will be working constructively with AUSTRAC to resolve the matter."
Also lower was URBN, which slid 14% after reporting quarterly results along with China's PDD, which fell 21%.
GM filed a lawsuit today in U.S. District Court in Detroit alleging FCAU got an unfair business advantage by bribing officials of the United Auto Workers union, Tom Krisher of Associated Press reported . The suit alleges that Fiat corrupted the bargaining process with the UAW in the 2009, 2011 and 2015 union contracts to gain advantages over GM. Shares of Fiat Chrysler were down 2.5% immediately following the AP's report, while GM was down 2%.
Elsewhere, The pan-European Stoxx 600 was 0.3% lower at the closing bell. Mainland Chinese stocks ended the day lower, with the Shanghai composite down 0.78% to 2,911.05 and the Shenzhen component shedding 0.82% to 9,809.05. The Shenzhen composite was around 0.707% lower at 1,635.16. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index slipped about 0.73%, as of its final hour of trading.

Currency

The U.S. Dollar Index rose 0.1% to 97.93.

Treasury

U.S. Treasuries enjoyed another day of solid gains that pressured yields on the 5-yr note, the 10-yr note, and the 30-yr bond back below their respective 50-day moving averages. Treasuries backed off their morning levels in midday trade but jumped to fresh highs after Reuters reported that the partial trade deal with China may not get signed this year. President Trump was asked about negotiations with China a bit later, to which he responded, "China wants to make a deal. The question is: Do I want to make a deal? Because I like what's happening right now. We're taking in billions and billions of dollars."

Commodity

Oil gained more than 3% on Wednesday after data showed a smaller than expected build in U.S. inventories. The move also came as tensions in the Middle East rose, with Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed they intercepted a Saudi warplane. Gold fell, retreating from a two-week high hit earlier in the session,** after the United States started issuing licenses for some companies to supply goods to Chinese firm Huawei, rekindling hopes for trade negotiations that had shown signs of turning more contentious.**

Crypto

As it stands, most of the cryptocurrencies in the top 30 by market capitalization are in the red, with BTC, ETH and XRP down between 1-2% each.

    5. Jonathan Toomim: "BCH will not allow block sizes that are large enough to wreak havoc. We do our capacity engineering before lifting the capacity limits. Genesistrade.fund is a high yield investment program which started on 19th Sep 2019. This program has already been monitored for 120 days on my website till now. After my invitation, admin decided to upgrade his program from “Basic” to “Premium” listing. During the past months, Genesistrade.fund always processed my withdrawal requests instantly and it performed perfectly. Now let me introduce it to you.
Started: 2019–09–19
My deposit: $500
Investment Plans: 112%-118% after 1week
These are all the plans Genesistrade.fund provides. You can choose according to your investment habits. If you want to get back initial deposit more quickly, then you can choose the 1 week plan. For my opinion, I suggest the 1 week plan, becasue the more quickly you get back your principal, the safer your money will be.

Welcome to r/Cardano, the reddit home of the Cardano blockchain. Read this to get started.

Welcome to Cardano!

Cardano is a highly secure blockchain written in Haskell. It allows formal verification of code, and easy extensibility through a layered architecture. Cardano’s technology is built from peer-reviewed research at some of the world’s foremost universities.
After more than two years of planning and development, we're delighted to announce that the Cardano blockchain was publicly launched on the 29th September 2017. Cardano's Ada token was then made available for trading on the 1st October at Bittrex exchange.
On this subreddit you can learn more about the project, understand its great potential and engage in the worldwide Cardano community!

Getting Started

What is Cardano?

Cardano is a security focused blockchain that harnesses the latest research and engineering insights to build a platform suitable for the highest value applications.
Built on a foundation of peer-reviewed research created through partnerships with the world’s foremost universities, Cardano aims to create a platform for decentralised applications and smart contracts that can be processed with a technique called formal verification.
This allows logical proof of the correctness of code and smart contracts, for those applications where value is high and security is paramount. Cardano combines this with an innovative layered approach that separates accounting of value from all other smart contract and computation activity.
This means functionality can be added to smart contract capabilities without changing the protocol responsible for the cryptocurrency.

The Team

Cardano is made up of three companies who each have distinct roles in the project.

  1. Cardano Foundation: A Swiss non-profit and guardian of the Cardano ecosystem and community. It aims to proactively work with governments and regulatory bodies, as well as forming strategic partnerships with enterprises and other open-source projects to further global adoption of the technology.
  2. IOHK: A world-class engineering and technology company committed to using peer-to-peer innovations to provide financial services to three billion people that don’t have them. The group is contracted to design, build, and maintain the Cardano platform until 2020.
  3. Emurgo: a company formed to integrate, develop and support businesses who want to utilise Cardano's decentralised blockchain.

What is unique about the project?

Cardano is the first blockchain project to be built on peer reviewed academic research.
This level of scrutiny of the underlying technology is an industry first. Further to this, Cardano is unique in that it’s written in the Haskell coding language.
Haskell is considered to be one of the most secure programming languages, minimizing the number of errors and adding extremely robust security to the platform. This includes use of a technique called formal verification, which allows mathematical proof of the correctness of code.
Cardano is also designed to operate in regulated industries whilst protecting individual privacy. Applications built on Cardano can be individually customised to meet regulator requirements, but individuals can protect their privacy by choosing whether they want to enter regulated domains.

How can I get Ada?

Right now the only exchange that Cardano has partnered with is Bittrex.com. More exchange partnerships will be announced in the coming weeks and months. Bittrex currently only offers a Bitcoin to Ada trading pair, but others will be added soon. You can sign up to Bittrex here.

How do I send/receive Ada?

You'll want to start by getting a wallet. Cardano's development partner IOHK has built the Daedalus wallet, allowing users to securely store their Ada. It will eventually support many different cryptocurrencies.

Key Documents & Project resources

Key Resources

Cardano Hub: The main website for all Cardano, from here all information and resources.
The Block Explorer: Search addresses, transactions, epochs & slots on the Cardano network.
The Daedalus Wallet: The open source cryptocurrency wallet for Ada, built to grow with the community.

The Whitepapers

Cardano has a very strong academic heritage and is the first cryptocurrency to have one of its academic papers accepted at Crypto 2017, the leading cryptography conference. IOHK have research centres or partnerships with many of the top global academic institutions including the University of Edinburgh and the Tokyo Institute of Technology.
On the Cardano Hub website, there are two sections within the Whitepapers tab:
  1. Philosophy: Confusingly most cryptocurrency projects call this their whitepaper, using the word in a non-academic sense. Here you can learn where the project has come from, and what its goals are. It explains how Cardano embraces the latest academic and engineering insights to build a highly secure Haskell blockchain.
  2. Academic Papers: This section hosts the peer-reviewed research papers that are behind Cardano's technology, including the first provably secure PoS protocol Ouroboros.

Monetary Policy

  • Total Max Supply: 45,000,000,000 ADA
  • Total Ada distributed in Pre-Sale: 25,927,070,538 ADA
An amount equal to 20% of Ada vouchers sold during the Sale period, or 5,185,414,107 Ada vouchers were generated and distributed to three entities of the Cardano ecosystem that are part of the Technical and Business Development pool: IOHK, Emurgo and Cardano Foundation.
Together with the Ada sold, this brings the supply of allocated tokens to 31,112,483,745 ADA.
More details can be read in the Cardano monetary policy document.

The Code & Technical Documentation

The entire Cardano blockchain is completely open source software and is available to see on Github. There is also extensive technical documentation produced by IOHK which can be viewed here.

The Roadmap

The Cardano roadmap is due to be released imminently and will be published here.

Pre-Sale

The pre-launch token sale of Ada ran from September 2015 to January 2017 was undertaken over 4 different tranches. During the sale the average price paid for 1 Ada was $0.0024 USD and 94.8% of Ada voucher holders who participated in the sale are Japanese. The audit report summary carried out by Cardano Foundation is available here, and the genesis block distribution may be seen here.

Mining and Staking

We are currently in the bootstrap era during which IOHK and Cardano Foundation trusted nodes are currently operating the network. We will then move into the reward era for which details will be released very soon and updated here.

Press

There have been a number of articles published about Cardano. You can read about Cardano on Nasdaq, Forbes, or Bitcoin magazine amongst others.

Jamie Dimon and Bitcoin

JP Morgan's Jamie Dimon is well known for his hatred of Bitcoin and love for the blockchain. It is understandable that he does not really have any clue what Bitcoin was created for or where its inherent value comes from. In a clip from 2017 at the Institute of International Finance seen HERE. Jamie Dimon was cautioning people saying bitcoin will one day hurt them, that bitcoin has no value, that blockchain is amazing and he loved it. Its really odd that a man would have such a hate for bitcoin and it was also clear that he did not understand the cash he values so highly loses 2-3% per year from inflation.

Inflation of currencies

To put that last statement into perspective, the USD loses between 2-3 cents of inherent value each year. This means if you leave money in the bank the last 5 years your 1 USD from 5 years ago is now worth only $.90. Yes that actually is true and how inflation works, but with bitcoin if you had bought a dollar in 2013 at say around $100 BTC your 1% of the BTC today would be worth over 35USD today. This is because Bitcoin's price is based on supply and demand economics and it is deflationary.
Deflationary currencies unlike inflationary ones cannot print an unlimited supply which is actually what causes inflation. If you have 100 USD in circulation and print off more that 100USD actually loses value. This is why so many people say things like the Federal Reserve needs to end. It is because the printing of the USD, has since its inception caused the currency to lose approximately 95% of its original value and decoupling from Gold made the inflation more like hyper inflation without anyone noticing.
When I was a child the same chocolate bar that now is 2 USD was $0.50 and I am only 33 years old. So in around 25 years the inflation has caused that chocolate bar to increase 4X in price. Now why is this an issue? Lets look at things like minimum wage, what we see is that has not even come close to rising as much as inflation. This actually causes the Rich-Poor gap to increase as it becomes hard and harder for the average citizens to survive. When we look at Jamie Dimon the reason he does not care is because he is the 1% or the 0.01% so to him inflation does not affect anything. People at that level of society can afford inflation, because they have money to invest.

Impact on the average family

Lets look at the normal family and how inflation affects them. First things cost more actually everything costs more: Education, Insurance, Food, Water, Heating, Electricity, Gas, and the list can go on and on. If your income does not match the inflation in society each year you are at a company you actually are making less. The average family used to have more of a nest egg to invest, but with the global financial crisis of 2008 most have not recovered and sorry to say it but the markets look ripe to drop hard again in 2019/2020.
If we do have another recession or worse a global financial crisis, we will see people start to flock towards bitcoin as the government will quantitatively ease and print off billions. Doing so will not really help long term and end up with more debt in society and honestly for many the struggle is real, especially those in the United States and we have seen this time and time again.

JPM Coin and Stablecoins

To wrap this all into the JPM coin and stablecoins in general they are a short term solution. For now they let us store our value pegged to the USD, and potentially in JPM coins case let the banks transfer USD to each other. The Inherent problems around fiat currencies is that they are losing value constantly and are backed by nothing but a government. Stablecoins for now let us hold the USD value of our cryptocurrencies and are a good hedge in the volatile market. What we all need to understand here is Fiat currencies like Venezuelan Bolivars, and the Argentine Peso have been far more volatile and hyper inflation has hit them hard. The thing everyone is missing is when this eventually hits the USD and it already is showing it has on an economic scale what will everyone turn to?
With deflationary currencies the solution is already here. For example BTC has 21 million coins that will ever make it into circulation at the time of this article there are 17,542,112 BTC with approximately 4M lost forever. As demand for BTC grows as it has in Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina and Turkey it will be a greater store of value. It will actually increase in price as you cannot make more and this is why John McAfee, Tom Lee and Tim Draper amongst others have put such a huge value per coin in the future of $150,000 to 1 Million USD.
📷
We all need to realize is Stablecoins are not the future, they aren't the solution. When the USD does meet its fate of hyper inflation as other currencies have, we will see cryptos like Bitcoin be the the world standard. JPM and USDT won't matter when the USD is similar to Bolivars and Argentine Pesos and this is what the future looks like. We cannot put a time on when this will happen, but when it does it is likely Bitcoin will be seen as a world currency. Bitcoin will back all currencies someday and this is why stablecoins are just a bandaid solution for the short term.
Sorry JPM coin, USDT, USDC etc... You are only a for the short term, it is time to see why Deflationary Currencies are the future!
